Richard Gaillardetz died on Tuesday morning, November 7. He was a theologian trained at Notre Dame and a professor at Boston College. AIUSCP was honored to have had him as a keynote speaker in 2019 (see video below). His area of expertise was ecclesiology, and even during his illness, he was very involved in keeping up-to-date on the synodal process.
I [Steve Newton] will be representing AUSCP at his funeral in Boston on November 16. We have lost a friend, but his written and spoken words continue to challenge us to be the Church we are called to be. May he rest in peace.
