Assembly 2021 is scheduled June 21-24 in St. Paul-Minneapolis, physically or virtually, depending on the corona virus.
Father Jan Michael Joncas will lead the Monday retreat (June 21), according to assembly planners. Keynoters have yet to be announced.
The Association of U.S. Catholic Priests, fresh from the 2020 virtual assembly in June, has announced that Father Jan Michael Joncas will lead the retreat at the beginning of the 2021 assembly.
Joncas, perhaps best known for his composition, On Eagle’s Wings, is an internationally recognized liturgical composer, author, speaker, and professor.He has served as associate pastor, campus minister, and parochial administrator at various parishes and Newman Centers in Minnesota.
He has graduate degrees in theology and liturgical studies from the University of Notre Dame and from the Pontifical University of Sant’ Anselmo in Rome.
He has published four books and more than 20 collections of liturgical music, and is currently Artist in Residence and Research Fellow in Catholic Studies at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Joncas has interacted with the AUSCP over the years, speaking to the assembly in 2015 and gifting us with “A Place Called Home” to the tune of Finlandia that has been adopted as a theme of the AUSCP.
The 2021 AUSCP assembly will involve either physical presence in St. Paul – Minneapolis or again, virtual presence over the internet.
