Fifth Sunday of Lent
March 17, 2024
I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
(Isaiah 43:18)
Mutual Support
Humans seem incapable of correcting one problem without overcorrecting to the point that they create another, opposite problem. So seems to be the case with the United States bishops’ 2002 “Dallas Charter,” intended as a “zero tolerance” response to the ongoing abuse issue. While originally well intentioned, over two decades later, it has now become clear that it has caused justice, common sense, and due process for accused priests to have been completely thrown out the window. The lives of innocent priests continue to be shattered. This article by David Pierre issues a call to take notice of this issue. You can read the entire article HERE.
HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY TO YOU!
May you be blessed with the luck o’ the Irish!

AUSCP and Voice of the Faithful invite you to:
Join the Conversation!
The General Secretariat for the Synod wants to hear from more priests and lay people before its second session in October 2024. YOU can make that happen. Join our co-sponsored Zoom gathering on March 20:
Wednesday, March 20 — 5 pm Pacific, 6 pm Mountain, 7 pm Central, and 8 pm Eastern
Our topic will be the two questions that U.S. Bishops are directed to ask in all dioceses:
1. Where have I seen or experienced successes and distresses within the Church’s structures, organization, leadership, and life that encourage or hinder the mission?
2. How can the structures and organization of the Church help all the baptized to respond to the call to proclaim the Gospel and to live as a community of love and mercy in Christ?
Or to translate the Church-speak: What works and does not work in the Church today, and how can we together make it work better? We will gather the combined voices of clergy and lay people from this Conversation and send the results to both the USCCB and the Secretariat.
Bring yourself. Bring your friends. Pastors, bring a staff member. Laity, bring your pastor. Invite everyone!
To register, click on the date: Wednesday March 20
We look forward to seeing you there!

* Workshops will be offered online from April 9-May 4*
This election, faith-filled voters have the opportunity to choose community over chaos. Join NETWORK Advocates from across the country for a four-part series to dig deeper into what it means to be a multi-issue Catholic voter, learn strategies to engage people in challenging conversations and build hope-filled narratives that inspire people to care about important issues, and explore concrete actions you can take to influence the election.
Each workshop session has multiple time slots–you only need to sign up for one since the content will be repeated. You do not have to sign up for the same time slot each week. We hope that you can attend all four workshops in the series, but we will welcome your participation in any!
